Ellie The Empress on Brand Promotions, Beauty Standards, and The Quest For Authenticity
What comes to mind when you think of an influencer? For me, it is hyper looks, too much makeup, excessive fashion, flashy life, over posting, heavy on some funny brands they are trying to promote, and everything far from real life reality. Total cringe! I have a rule: I will never be a fan of any public figure with over 1 million followers on any social media brand. When I log into social media, I try to get entertained and catch up with people who can relate to me and make fun of the stress I navigate daily. Real life is stressful enough. Why pay to watch someone remind you how imperfect your life is? A stereotypical influencer to me, that is!
Who is Ellie The Empress aka Ellie Ensley?
I am a huge fan of underdogs, well, of course, until they grow too big to fit in my likeness. And one of my favorite underdogs is Ellie the Empress; have you heard of her yet? I better hope not! Better that way! Before working her way up into social media presence, Ellie was a law enforcement officer and an army veteran. Currently aged 33 and based in Orlando, Florida, the African American Princess has found fun in full-time content creation. I like her for her versatility; you never know what content to expect from her, maybe a live cookout video, travel vlog, or just a girl having fun naturally. But mostly, I discovered her for fashion haul videos. Ellie has a presence on X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, and Twitch and is more successful on YouTube. Her fanbase and followership? You guessed it right! Just about 200,000 followers around her subscribers. Not too much content, no shitposting, just a few authentic videos that are considerably in touch with reality. What I find appealing about her is her bubbly and carefree personality. You can easily tell that her videos and content are not scripted; she is just a simple girl making errors and having relatable awkward moments. That is the authenticity worth sitting to watch. If I wanted to be scripted, I would go to the cinema! Far from that, I am a huge fan of her try-on-haul videos, and that is my key focus today.
The Magic Behind Try-On Haul Videos
As early as the 2000s, fashion brands have worked so hard to come up with ways through which they can share with their target customers what their products would look like on them. For other products like makeup and accessories, it is pretty straightforward. If I bought a wig that Rihanna wore to a Met Gala event, it would not look so different. Same as other accessories. But when it comes to clothes, that is where the real challenge lies. You see, we have to admit that there is a diversity in body sizes and shapes. And the 2D models they use to market or advertise those dresses are just too ideal for a real person. The models on the runways look too perfect. Even with a 17th-century corset on, it is impossible to achieve those ideal body types. Hey, I am trying to be comfortable while good-looking. Why would I need a corset for a night out? What about the virtual try-ons feature they have? Not so much don't work. Actually, that is the main issue I have when it comes to purchasing those clothes online! I am always crossing my fingers, hoping they don't turn out that bad! If I had a dollar for every time I ordered an attire that did not fit perfectly, I would have more than $150, which is not much but enough to get me a nice pair of sneakers from Nike. That frustration of having half of my wardrobe with clothes I have never worn and had to pay for them! I don't know about you, but there are only so many times I can return a purchase I have already made; it is better to suffer the loss and save the seller the trouble; it is not like I trust them to get me what I want even after the returns anyways.

Let's face it: Not everybody can afford to buy a pair of jeans for $100. And for someone who can, they will definitely get it from well-grown brands that have an ultra-modern app with virtual try-on apps and a budget for catchy photoshoots of models- I mean, that is the whole point they cost that much.
But where do the rest (most ) of us get our fashion? Resale platforms and thrift stores name them. They cost far less and are very much within our budget. Except that we have to drive to Timbuktu to a store full of people and a crowded exchange room to go through a pile of attires that have been tried on by hundreds of people before. I mean, is that even safe? A small price to pay for the lower price, maybe! Some of these platforms allow customers to order online, and they even allow deliveries. That could possibly save me the tussles and all the time it takes for a trip down to the store.
But just one tiny question: can I trust that store attendant with a backload of deliveries to really take their time to pick out the right dress choice for me? What are the chances that after hours, maybe days of waiting only for the dress to arrive on the morning of Valentine's date, it is far from what I had anticipated? How do they call that thing, whereby a camera portrays a totally different color of attire, making it look pink and only arrive as magenta ( I had to google that one)? How is that for time-saving? Sounds like a step in the opposite direction for cost savings, which was the original plan!
These are the frustrations we all can relate to when we want to shop for clothes. As much as we want to put up with the fashion trends, it is costly and a huge headache for an average customer. This is why I find trying on hauls by simple artificial influencers to be an easy way out. You see those critics of simple fashion that do not try to over-emphasize promoting the sponsoring brands; the influencers with realistic body sizes and types who give their honest reviews on attires are more reliable. We can break down some of Ellie's collection and videos and assess how these try-on hauls are lifesavers.
Ellie's Try-On Haul Collections
First, I have to admit that I should not trust anything that counts on cleavage and the twins for looks! Because right there, Ellie Ensley would be an ideal mannequin most of us envy. Yes, she sure looks like one of those girls you wish to be a porn star, but she is not one!
Dresses Collection
I like dresses, but I don't have a particular type. Let us just say I like watching my friends and celebrities in them. Dresses, for me, are for entertainment purposes, and I am not built for them. Never! For entertainment, I said, you can check out this try-on haul video here.
The first item on the list is a pink bodycon dress. I would say it is something for curvy women, and I mean curvy. For Ellie, it looks great fitting on the low, but on the top side, it's not so good. I would say it is something for ladies with smaller twins (or boobs?).
For the second dress, she never mentioned the name, and I don't know what to call it. But a blue- hued floral bodycon dress would be descriptive enough. It does good justice for her cleavage. One thing I really count on with Ellie is that her lower curves would blend with anything. She mentioned something about a lot of room in the dress that would allow her to eat and still look stunning. That is something to consider.
Wait, the third outfit, was that even a dress? Yes, she sneaked in a grey two-pace outfit. Being not a dress, that would be my type, but with Ellie, the top is not so good. I find it extra revealing, and I bet she would be struggling to adjust the top back to fit every two minutes. Not so comfortable, eh?
The all-white dress is a good one, with nice cleavage, a nice fit, and extra length, which makes it very classy. Something I would consider if I were built for them. As for the colorful dress, as she puts it, it does not have such a good look on her. I love the lace dress. The Bermuda blue color is simple and majestic. It feels good and is something good to watch, but not for me. Otherwise, that summarizes it for the dresses!

Halloween Collection
Want to look goofy and sexy, never thought of that myself. I was confused at first, but you can check the try-on haul right here.
Something I noticed with her first Halloween outfit (Tinkerbell costume) is the original model picture attached to it. She is a lady with relatively smaller body size, let's say size something between size 7-8, but Ellie is somewhere north of size 10. Interestingly, the outfit seems to fit her. However, you can tell her top part is rather uncomfortable. The skirt is rather too short, not something for the public! Maybe for people who don't mind. The next outfit ( Dorothy from Wizards of Oz) is comparatively better looking than the Tinker Bell costume. It is simple, and the blue and white mix is just classic. But I think it is something built for small-sized ladies. The nurse costume is so creative. Wait, I am halfway through the video; I have not met a single Halloween costume yet ( pardon my expectation!). The nurse costume seems like lingerie to me, and I think it is the most fitting among the costumes I've tried so far. Nonetheless, like the rest, it is not something I would wear outside my doorstep. The next outfit, which is a two-piece navy costume with a top and shorts, looks the greatest. I was honestly disappointed when she said she didn't like them. The sneak peek at the cleavages is such a plus. The only reason I can justify her not liking it is that it is too small. Another outfit designed for small-bodied people. At last, there comes the ninja! Honest to God, it looks ridiculous! Whose idea was to include the facemask?
Even Ellie The Empress herself could not figure out how to look stunning in the outfit. I love her honest review on the backside. Generally, the outfit seems odd, not so much like the model pictured.
Shapewear
Trying to look stunning and curvy needs extra effort, and the shapewear is a good starter pack for this. I did not even know they existed in that much variety. Check out Elie's collection at this link. The first attire doesn't seem anywhere near visually impressive ( but it is shapewear. Nobody cares about the color!). But I will give it the credit for boosting that butt boost. I was confused with the second attire; it is more of the waist and tummy trimmer than doing any extra work for the butt and hips. But I guess they are built for different purposes. The third outfit was even more confusing ( what is it with the designs of this shapewear!). I have to admit shapewear is complicated, and this reinforces the fact that they are designed for what they do rather than how they look, but thus far, I have yet to find something visually impressive. Finally, the last shapewear brought to life what appearances are meant to serve. This is the type I am more familiar with. It looks like a corset and can be worn from the outside.
Something for The Date
The shapewear try-on was the dullest of the try-on hauls I have watched of Ellie's. It was not engaging, not visually impressive, or interesting at all. There is magic in colorful outfits and designs. Check out this Galentine's Day dress haul through this link.
By now, you should be convinced that Ellie The Empress has got a thing for pink colors. The first outfit is a classy pink dress. I find it classy, and I am a shy type. Anything that fully covers the chest area would be fine with me. I think this is the most elegant I have seen of Ellie. I almost could not recognize her without seeing her boobs!
The second dress is a chocolate rushed mini dress (I read that). It is a good show for her curves, and like the previous one, it has a decent amount of cleavage (decent meaning not too much; you have to understand how uneasy I am with showing chest areas, insecure perhaps). The third outfit is rather simple but rather not for Ellie's body type. It is extra short, and I love the collar design and the decent chest region. I mentioned colorfully, and the third dress is a deep red Cloe midi dress. It has nice sleeves, but the chest region is a topic for discussion. I like the backside; it's not too short, and the split adds to its elegance. Ellie says it would look better on someone with a smaller chest, and I can’t agree more.
Silks And Nightwear
Finally, it is something I fully like but have trouble picking what to wear. Remember, the goal is to stay comfortable while looking sexy for a busy night. Check out the haul on this link.
Ellie The Empress sounds like a marketer talking about silk nightwear. The first item on the list is what, to me, looked like a scarf, she said and demonstrated how it could be wrapped on the head and mentioned wrapping it on her hips. First of all, why would I buy such an expensive outfit to wrap on my head? That doesn't sit well with me. I was looking forward to something more creative. Quite disappointed. The second outfit was silk lingerie she never got to try on, yet she was disappointed again. The third was a two-piece grey outfit, a short, and a top that looked very comfortable to sleep on. This try-on was rather brief, and I felt she was rushed.
Do better next time, Ellie The Empress!
Leggings
When I hear about leggings, I imagine camel toes and that. It's not something for the very self- conscious about how people think about them like me! But I love seeing people in them; I just never contemplated trying one. Let us see what Ellie The Empress has for us here.
She mentions something about not showing camel toes; that is a good start. Ellie looks extra sporty, and like those girls I see at the gym. The first outfit is a good look and comfortable enough for workouts. Ellie said the leggings weigh as light as two lipsticks- the Americans would use anything to measure but the metric system! I must admit that the leggings make me want to try them someday.
Wrap It Up
Ultimately, the try-on hauls are a big improvement on the basic 2D model pictures. Getting reviews and critiques from an authentic person makes the attire look real. You can also tell their imperfection. Personally, I am no huge fan of extra revealing clothes. I am conservative and really feel uncomfortable with them. But I really love the looks my friends pull on them, and I just don't have the courage to do it. I get devastated when the attires I order end up extra revealing, and I feel wasted. But with the try-ons, I can pinpoint exactly what I want and even decide on what to wear and how to style it.
